THE BAKER

In the summer of 2001, Ivy founder Daniellan Louie started baking for friends, not knowing it would become her life’s dream and passion. One particular friend asked for brownies and without any prior experience, she whipped up a batch. Her first several batches were a disaster but she kept at it. Her friend was so pleased with the results that he requested brownies on a weekly basis.

After months of supplying brownies to him, he suggested that she start a business. Already having the entrepreneur spirit with previous business ideas, she decided to give this idea a try. Daniellan started baking her now famous Double Chocolate Chip Brownies and Chocolate Covered Long Stem Strawberries for family and friends. They were such a hit that she started creating a vast menu of baked goods. She would call friends to come over and taste her creations, most were hits, and others... well...   not so much.

Daniellan baked around the clock for three years while also attending college full-time as a hospitality management major. With a minimally equipped tiny kitchen and an oven with a door that never closed completely, she honed her craft, creating an assortment of classic and creative baked goods. In 2004 and at the age of 20, Daniellan felt she had a large enough collection of recipes that would please the public and the idea of Ivy was born.

Ivy would bake high quality goods made in small fresh batches. No mass-producing here. Just like you would make in your own home kitchen. What makes Ivy even more special is offering the ability for customers to customize their orders.

Starting February of 2006, Ivy will be taking orders by phone and through www.ivybakery.com. Ivy kitchens are located in Brooklyn and we set up delivery schedules or pick-ups so that customers receive their goods fresh. Future plans for Ivy include opening a bakery store-front (open April 2007). Ivy's mission: creating the freshest, tastiest, sweetest baked goods anywhere.

If you would like to contact Daniellan she can be reached at *DaniellanLouie@gmail.com. She bakes throughout the night, manages the office, orders, web-site, delivers, and still has time to reply back to you. So feel free to drop her a note.
